Newcastle discussing seven summer targets with three signings prioritised - Report

Heading into a massive summer for the club, there will be no excuses this time round having failed to bring in any major first-team signings in the last three windows.

January's inactivity has left Eddie Howe's squad a little short, but it's hoped our short-term pain will lead to long-term gain, with our PSR woes set to ease, freeing up funds to spend.

Talk of transfers may seem premature just a few weeks after the winter window closed, but that won't stop recruitment meetings taking place as club scouts continue to watch and discuss a number of targets.

Seven targets discussed on Tyneside

It's believed Newcastle are focusing on a new right-sided attacker, centre-back and striker heading into the summer, with a number of targets already under discussion.

According to a new report from The Telegraph's Luke Edwards, SEVEN players have been brought up in recent recruitment meetings; PSV’s Johan Bakayoko, Bournemouth duo Antoine Semenyo and Dean Huijsen, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, Lille’s Jonathan David, Celtic’s Nicolas Kühn and Southampton’s Tyler Dibling.

Most on that list have been linked in recent weeks, with Bakayoko, David and Kuhn reportedly watched by scouts in Champions League action, but it's interesting to see Gibbs-White mentioned again ahead of Sunday's clash with Forest.

While the report insists that top targets are yet to be decided on, there are a number of exciting names in the mix, with the club keen to recruit a mixture of young talent and Premier League-ready stars.

Newcastle enter summer in ‘position of strength’

The club will be entering uncharted territory in the next few months as it looks like we’ll be going into the summer in a position of financial power.

The Telegraph report that it could be the most exciting window since the early days of the Saudi takeover, with recent exits for Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly handing us significant 'headroom' from a PSR perspective.

Sales were forced upon us last June in order to avoid punishment. However, all is looking positive on the financial side of things in 2025, meaning we could look to take advantage of those around us who are struggling to meet PSR guidelines and strengthen while others are forced to sell.

The aforementioned names will certainly not come cheap, but it does sound like there’s room for a couple of big incomings after a few too many frustrating windows on Tyneside.
