£60m striker accepts Newcastle fate as Toon negotiate deadline day deal - Report

In some ways, 7pm can't come quickly enough after a tiring summer full of infuriating transfer sagas.

But for Newcastle, they might just need more time to sign that extra striker, with a Callum Wilson replacement now the club's ultimate focus as Alexander Isak heads to Liverpool for £130m.

An update has arrived on two key striker targets, offering some good and bad news in the early stages of deadline day.

The bad news is that it seems Jorgen Strand Larsen's hopes of arriving on Tyneside today are now all but over, with The Mail's Craig Hope reporting that he has been told there is no chance he leaves before the 7pm deadline.

Newcastle had £50m and £55m bids rejected for the Norwegian last week and were tipped to lodge a third bid worth £60m. But it's claimed the big man has now 'accepted' Wolves' stance, realising he'll be staying put.

Then to Yoane Wissa, who is now considered the 'more possible' of the two after long-term interest from Newcastle.

Hope reveals that Newcastle have 'work to do', but are currently negotiating a deal with Brentford, who had been demanding a whopping £60m-plus over the weekend.

Newcastle have had bids of £25m and £35m (£40m with add-ons) rejected for Wissa so far, with the Bees previously insisting that they will only sell if a replacement arrives.
