Bruno Guimaraes nonsense publicly addressed by senior source at Newcastle United

The Bruno Guimaraes saga continues to rumble on at Newcastle United, who are expecting the Brazilian back for pre-season this Friday.

The expectation is that our Brazilian skipper won't 'do an Isak', but this uncertainty remains while reports continue to suggest he is determined to push through a move to Arsenal.

Rumours have been rife, and there are clearly multiple factors in play. Arsenal seem adamant on unsettling the player, agents are involved in search of a payday, Bruno will have his own wishes as he approaches 29 without European football for 2026/27, and Newcastle will be so reluctant to lose another star man, especially one of Bruno's influence on and off the pitch on Tyneside.

But what's the truth and what comes next? Another 'twist' emerged earlier today, and it sums up what's quickly becoming another tedious saga.

"There is no situation with Bruno" 

Earlier today, talkSPORT's Ben Jacobs reported that Arsenal and Newcastle were in advanced talks and making progress over the price it would take to land Bruno Guimaraes.

Big claims from Ben, although it didn't take long for Newcastle to answer back, as The Telegraph's Luke Edwards soon spoke to a 'senior' source at Newcastle for an update.

Their response was telling and that of a club bemused, yet again, by Arsenal's conduct, as Edwards explains below.

'Not according to Newcastle they aren’t. I’m not sure how many times they can deny it - and someone is pushing this - but I have literally got off the phone to senior source at #nufc who said “there is no situation with Bruno, there is nothing new, there are zero talks taking place at the moment…”'

 

Why I believe Bruno stays 

Put simply, I think Bruno stays - unless something considerable changes in the coming days.

Do I believe he will force a move like Isak did and tarnish his reputation? No.

Do I believe Newcastle need to sell or would lower their demands for Arsenal? No.

Do I believe Arsenal will pay over £90m for a player approaching 29? I don't think so.

The risks remain that one or more of these key questions could go against us, but, for now, I expect him back on Friday and for this messy situation to have a solution soon enough.
