Jamaal Lascelles searching for new club after nightmare Leicester spell
In January, Newcastle United's club captain left the club and moved to Leicester City.
The Foxes were struggling in the Championship, and Lascelles' experience and grit were just what they felt they needed to drag them out of the hole they were in.
The 32-year-old signed a short-term deal at Leicester to try and help them climb to safety, but it wasn't meant to be.
Leicester were up against it, having been slapped with a six-point deduction. Were it not for that sanction, the Foxes would have scraped survival at the expense of West Bromwich Albion. Instead, they celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their historic Premier League title win by dropping into League One.
10 players set to leave Leicester
Leicester City have released a statement saying that 10 first-team players will leave the club when their contracts expire, and among them is Jamaal Lascelles.
The former Nottingham Forest man only signed a deal to the end of the season, and now he must find a new club ahead of next season.
There had been plenty of interest in Lascelles while he was at Newcastle, particularly from Turkey, so he may still have options.
Jamaal Lascelles is a born leader
We're sure Lascelles will find a new club with very little problem. He's still a very handy player to have in any squad. He can still do a job on the pitch up to a certain level, but it's more about what he can bring behind the scenes.
Lascelles doesn't suffer fools, and if he sees anyone at a club not pulling their weight, he's going to call them out on it. It's what took him from obscurity to Newcastle's club captain, and why he kept that title even when he wasn't part of the regular starting XI.
Good luck, Jam. On to the next adventure.
