John Carver back in management as former Newcastle coach returns to football
Former Newcastle United coach John Carver is back in management after being appointed the new head coach of Polish side Radomiak Radom.
The 61-year-old returns to the dugout just months after leaving Lechia Gdańsk, with the former Magpies coach now taking on another challenge in Poland.
Carver takes charge of Radomiak
Radomiak announced on Tuesday that Carver had signed a contract running until 30 June 2027, with an option to extend the agreement for another season.
Carver has already taken his first training session with the club and will be joined by assistant Adam Sadler, who was part of Leicester City’s title-winning coaching staff in 2015/16.
Radomiak currently sit 14th in the Polish top flight with eight points, and Carver’s first game in charge is set to come against Motor Lublin on 12th October.
It represents another opportunity for the former Newcastle coach to make his mark in Polish football, having already gained experience in the Ekstraklasa with Lechia Gdańsk.
Where has Carver been?
Carver has had quite a coaching career since his long association with Newcastle.
He worked alongside the much-loved Sir Bobby Robson on Tyneside before later returning under Alan Pardew, eventually taking temporary charge of the first team following Pardew’s departure in January 2015.
Since leaving Newcastle, Carver has worked in MLS with Toronto, managed Omonia in Cyprus and served as an assistant at West Bromwich Albion.
He then spent almost five years as part of Scotland’s coaching staff before returning to club management in Poland with Lechia Gdańsk in 2024.
Carver left Lechia in May 2026 following their relegation from the Ekstraklasa, but he has not had to wait long for another opportunity.
Now back in the Polish top flight with Radomiak, the Geordie coach will be hoping to enjoy another successful chapter in his long coaching career.
