Matthias Jaissle on Tino Livramento blow and injuries after NINE miss Hull win

Matthias Jaissle is hopeful Newcastle United can welcome several injured players back after the upcoming international break.

The squad has been hit by a number of injury problems in recent weeks, with NINE senior players missing our 2-1 win over Hull City just yesterday.

Dan Burn, Will Osula and Joelinton have all been absent for several weeks, Nico Gonzalez missed out through concussion protocols, while Jacob Ramsey, Amar Dedic, Ewen Jaouen and Anthony Elanga were also out, with Tino Livramento suffering a new injury in training. 

Jaissle on Tino and mounting injury list 

Speaking after Newcastle’s victory over Hull, Jaissle said:

“After this international window. We hope, we pray, and we’re optimistic. That’s the only thing at the moment in this situation, what we can do.

“We count on the medical department that we’re getting the players back as soon as possible.”

Discussing Livramento's latest injury, he revealed that the full-back felt some discomfort after Friday's training session and is now set for an MRI scan. 

"He suffered with some discomfort in the morning after yesterday's (Friday's) training. 

"He will have a MRI scan but nothing more from my side on this."

The boss admitted it is a "concern" to be without so many players so early in the season, but hopes to have "some lads back" after the break.

"It’s a concern. For me as a coach, it is definitely a concern and we will start from tomorrow morning to reflect on that. 

"Hopefully, after the break we will have some lads back."

The break has come at a good time 

The international break now gives us a chance to get some players back to full fitness, with the medical team set to play a key role over the coming weeks.

Jaissle clearly doesn’t want to put firm return dates on anyone at this stage - he's been very coy on this ever since he arrived - but his comments suggest the hope is that Newcastle can come out of the break with a few players back.

Osula is thought to be closing in, as is Burn, while Elanga's hamstring issue is not thought to be as serious as some first feared. Nico will also return against Coventry, given it was a concussion issue.
