Newcastle agree £75m Bruno Guimaraes sale as Arsenal reach compromise

We've reached the endgame in the Bruno Guimaraes saga, with our captain now closing in on a move away.

Following a four-and-a-half-year stint at St James' Park, featuring 30 goals, 26 assists and one Carabao Cup, the Brazilian is moving on.

Another major departure in what's turning out to be a summer of change, joining Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and former boss Eddie Howe in leaving the club, with Arsenal now all set to land the 28-year-old.

Bruno sale sanctioned

Both Lee Ryder and David Ornstein have revealed that Newcastle have sanctioned a £75m move to Arsenal for club captain Bruno Guimaraes.

A deal has been on the cards for months, despite the initial lack of approach or club-to-club talks, and it looks like an agreement has now been reached.

Ornstein reports that both parties were initially far apart on their valuations, but a compromise has been found in a recent round of talks, allowing the midfielder to complete a desired switch to North London.

Lyon had a 20% sell-on included in his initial switch to Newcastle back in 2022, meaning the Ligue 1 side will net £7-8m of the £75m sale.

Bruno recently arrived at the club's training camp in La Manga on Monday, but will now travel to London to complete a medical, leaving Newcastle on the lookout for a much-needed replacement in midfield.
