Newcastle close to signing Victor Munoz for €30m + bonuses - Report

Newcastle United's move for Victor Munoz is getting ever closer to becoming a reality if the latest report from Spain is to be believed.

On Friday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Real Madrid would NOT be activating their right to buy back the 22-year-old; instead, they seem happy enough to scoop up 50% of the profit on his sale, as per their agreement.

Meanwhile, reports that Victor Munoz is keen on the move to England and is happy with the terms on offer from Newcastle continue to circulate, so the only obstacle right now is agreeing a fee with Osasuna.

That obstacle may now have been cleared, according to Spanish outlet, AS as they have reported that a fee has been all but agreed.

Munoz close to becoming a Mag?

Even though Munoz has a €40m release clause, it seems Newcastle has managed to go in just under that, but with performance-related add-ons coming after an initial outlay of €30m.

According to Madrid Zone on X, who have picked up on the report in AS, the deal could be done immediately.

"JUST IN: Despite his release clause being €40 million, Newcastle will pay €30 million + performance-related bonuses for Victor Muñoz. The deal could be done IMMEDIATELY.

"Osasuna must inform Real Madrid before they complete the deal."

Victor Munoz could be a Magpie next week

While Osasuna have to let Real Madrid know they have accepted the offer, the fact that Fabrizio Romano had already reported Madrid's stance on the move, it seems like we should see some movement on this very soon.

There has already been talk that Munoz will undergo his medical out in America, where he's currently with Spain for the World Cup.

All being well, we could have a new winger in place next week. We're loving this new fast-acting proactive approach to transfers.
