Newcastle eyeing Valencia's David Otorbi as two officials head to Spain
Newcastle United have been linked with yet another teenage talent as Ross Wilson continues the club’s global search for potential gems.
Following recent links to Ajax centre-back Aaron Bouwman and Granada winger Owen Emeka, the club are now reportedly keeping tabs on another exciting prospect in Spain.
Newcastle scouts watch Valencia winger
According to MARCA, Newcastle are among a host of Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on 18-year-old Valencia winger David Otorbi.
The Spanish outlet claims that two Newcastle scouts were in attendance to watch the teenager in action against Racing Santander, with Otorbi making a big impression by scoring his first senior goal in a 2-2 draw.
The winger came off the bench to find the net, helping Valencia secure a point and giving our scouts in attendance another glimpse of his potential.
Otorbi has already made history at the Spanish club, becoming Valencia’s youngest-ever player when he made his senior debut aged just 16 in January 2024.
A product of Valencia’s academy, the youngster is now attracting attention from England after establishing himself in the La Liga side’s first team squad.
There is no indication that Newcastle have made a formal offer, but the reported scouting trip underlines the club’s continued interest in identifying young players who could develop into first-team options in the future.
Otorbi’s agent confirms Premier League interest
Newcastle are not alone in monitoring the teenager, with Otorbi’s agent, Nacho Gallart, confirming that several clubs have made contact in recent weeks.
Speaking to Spanish outlet MARCA, Gallart admitted that Premier League sides have been particularly active in making enquiries.
“He’s a player with a lot of market value, and always has been. In recent weeks, we’ve received calls from quite a few clubs. It’s true that many clubs have called us, especially from the Premier League.
“We are very happy in Valencia and, for the moment, our only objective is to continue learning, continue adding to our experience and help the team if the manager deems it appropriate.
“We want it to be slow. We believe that’s what’s necessary and we don’t want to rush.”
Those comments suggest that, despite the growing interest, Otorbi and his representatives are keen to prioritise his development at Valencia rather than rush into a move elsewhere.
For Newcastle, the teenager could be another name to monitor as Wilson and the club’s recruitment team continue to look for emerging talent across Europe.
However, with several Premier League clubs reportedly interested and Valencia keen to nurture their young winger, any potential move remains at an early stage.
