Newcastle reject £10m bid for Jacob Murphy - Report

Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy is attracting late interest ahead of today’s 11pm transfer deadline.

According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Newcastle have turned down a £10m offer from Nottingham Forest for Murphy.

He reports that the bid arrived over the weekend, but new boss Matthias Jaissle is keen to keep him at the club.

Hope's source suggests a deadline day deal is 'unlikely', however, there is a 'chance' the move is resurrected in the final hours of the summer window.

Last week, The Telegraph confirmed Forest boss Oliver Glasner was interested in the 31-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract at St James’ Park.

Murphy is considered a good fit for Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 formation, although the Austrian has just recruited a new right wing-back in Daniel Munoz, who arrives from Crystal Palace.

A mistake not to cash in?

Murphy has been a solid player for Newcastle in recent seasons, but he's out of contract next summer and has lot his starting spot to Anthony Elanga.

The wide man enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign, registering eight goals and 12 assists in a season that saw him supply Alexander Isak.

Since then, his influence has waned, and his contract is running down, meaning this may be our last chance to get a decent fee for the 31-year-old.

Personally, it feels like the right time to sell, but Jaissle may have other ideas if he's wary of selling without a replacement or losing another big character.
