Newcastle reportedly keen on Christos Tzolis to replace Anthony Gordon
If there's a winger in form, you can guarantee that they are going to be linked with Newcastle United now that it looks increasingly likely that Anthony Gordon will leave this summer.
While nothing is set in stone, the rumours around Anthony Gordon joining Bayern Munich continue to get stronger, and even if he doesn't head to the Bundesliga, there is thought to be plenty of interest in the Premier League.
That potentially leaves Newcastle with the task of replacing their top scorer for a second consecutive summer.
The Magpies have already been linked with several players who could fill the void if Gordon goes, but we expect to see many more names before anything actually happens.
Newcastle eyeing Greek international to replace Gordon
Greek journalist Dimitris Manakos has thrown out a new name today via an article for SportsBoom, claiming that Newcastle are looking at Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis.
The Greek international is in scintillating form for the Belgian side, having scored two and assisted three in Brugge's three play-off games this month.
Overall, this season, the winger has amassed 16 goals and 22 assists in 45 appearances, which are the kind of numbers that will turn heads.
Manakos suggests that it won't be easy to lure the 24-year-old away from Brugge as there will be plenty of interest from elsewhere, while the club values him at around €30 million (£26 million).
There's a lot to like
The fee doesn't sound off-putting at all when you consider how much we paid for Gordon and what we're due to sell him for, especially if he's able to produce similar numbers in the Premier League.
Tzolis has already had a spell in England with Norwich City, where he played in the Premier League and Championship, but his output for the East Anglian side was poor.
He's matured since then, however, and now has Champions League experience to add to his resume, so he could be ready for another crack at the English top flight.
Rumour Rating: 4/10 - There's a lot to like about this one, but it's the source that has us sceptical. Until a more reliable source picks up the scent, we're filing this in the doubtful category.
