Newcastle vs Sunderland moved in one of THREE fixture changes - Full schedule
Newcastle United have confirmed three changes to their December fixture schedule, with the Premier League announcing the latest TV selections on Monday.
Our home clash with Sunderland has been moved to Sunday, December 6, while games against Manchester United and Brentford have also had their kick-off times amended.
It means Newcastle’s entire Christmas and New Year schedule is now confirmed, allowing fans to plan accordingly.
Three fixtures changed for TV
Newcastle have confirmed that three of their Premier League fixtures in December have been rescheduled after being selected for live television coverage.
First up, our home meeting with Manchester United will remain on Wednesday, December 2, but kick-off has been pushed back by 15 minutes to 8.15pm GMT. The game will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The following weekend brings the first Tyne-Wear derby of the season at St James’ Park. Newcastle were originally due to host Sunderland on Saturday, December 5, but the 160th meeting between the rivals will now take place on Sunday, December 6, with a 2pm kick-off.
Finally, Newcastle’s final away game of 2026, against Brentford, will remain on Saturday, December 19, but kick-off has been brought forward from 3pm to 12.30pm GMT. That fixture will be shown live on TNT Sports, although it’s a less than ideal kick off time for those travelling to West London that day!
Full festive schedule now confirmed
Newcastle’s full festive schedule is as follows:
- Manchester United (H) – Wednesday, December 2, 8.15pm
- Sunderland (H) – Sunday, December 6, 2pm
- Ipswich Town (A) – Saturday, December 12, 3pm
- Brentford (A) – Saturday, December 19, 12.30pm
- Manchester City (H) – Saturday, December 26, 8pm
- Nottingham Forest (H) – Wednesday, December 30, 7.30pm
- Chelsea (A) – Sunday, January 3, 2pm
- Manchester United (A) – Thursday, January 7, 8pm
The standout date will undoubtedly be December 6, when Sunderland visit St James’ Park for the first league derby of the 2026/27 campaign, where we’ll be hoping (and needing!) to bounce back from defeats in both of our meetings last season.
With the festive schedule now finalised, attention turns to a crucial period for Matthias Jaissle, as he looks to get back on track after three defeats in our last four, starting with Crystal Palace away on Sunday.
