Nick Woltemade makes it five goal involvements in four Europa League games
Nick Woltemade supplied the assist for Juventus' winner in their 2-1 victory at AZ Alkmaar last night, just hours after being left out of Germany's squad.
Earlier on Thursday, Jürgen Klopp had omitted the Newcastle loanee from his latest Germany squad, with Malick Thiaw retaining his place. That came only days after Woltemade collected Juventus' Player of the Month award for October.
Woltemade and Kolo Muani combine
Woltemade and Randal Kolo Muani had already threatened inside five minutes, with the German playing his strike partner through for a shot that went narrowly wide.
Kolo Muani then set up Teun Koopmeiners for the opener in the 19th minute before combining with Woltemade again for Juventus' second. The pair exchanged passes before the Frenchman finished with a first-time left-footed strike in the 37th minute.
AZ pulled one back late on through Mexx Meerdink, but Juventus held on to reach 10 points from four Europa League games.
The assist takes Woltemade to three goals and two assists in four Europa League appearances, continuing a productive European campaign for the Newcastle loanee.
It's an encouraging sign for his partnership with Kolo Muani as he continues to establish himself in Luciano Spalletti's side.
