Nick Woltemade wins Juventus award before big win on Sunday night
Nick Woltemade enjoyed a memorable Sunday night, collecting Juventus’ Player of the Month award for October before helping the Italian giants secure a 2-0 victory over Napoli.
The Newcastle United loanee was named in Luciano Spalletti’s starting line-up at the Allianz Stadium, continuing his recent run of opportunities in the team.
Big Nick wins October award
Woltemade enjoyed an impressive October in a Juventus shirt, making an increasing impact after initially having to settle for limited opportunities following his loan move from Newcastle.
His European performances were particularly impressive. He scored in the 2-1 Europa League victory over Celta Vigo on October 15, before producing another influential display against Rennes a week later.
Woltemade scored from the penalty spot and provided an assist in the 2-2 draw with the French side, earning the man-of-the-match award.
That result also saw him score in each of his first three major European appearances for Juventus, having previously found the net against NEC Nijmegen.
Woltemade starts in crucial Sunday night win
Woltemade started in last night's Serie A clash with Napoli and played the full 90 minutes as Juventus secured an important 2-0 victory.
The 24-year-old led the line alongside Randal Kolo Muani, with the hosts having to wait until the 70th minute to break the deadlock.
Kerim-Sam Alajbegovic opened the scoring with a superb strike before Jeremie Boga added a second in the 87th minute to seal all three points.
Woltemade did not get on the scoresheet himself, but his presence and link play helped occupy the Napoli defence and create space for Juventus’ attacking players.
It was another full match for the Newcastle loanee, who is now getting the regular starting opportunities that were harder to come by during his opening weeks in Italy.
With his October award collected and Juventus picking up another important victory, Woltemade will be hoping to maintain that momentum throughout the remainder of his loan spell and start finding the net in Serie A after starring in Europe.
