Sandro Tonali likely to stay at Newcastle United - Report
Sandro Tonali seems increasingly likely to stay at Newcastle United beyond the summer.
After The Athletic reported that Manchester United's interest in signing Tonali had cooled, it's now looking more and more likely that the Italian will still be a Newcastle player next season.
Tonali has long been linked with a move away from Tyneside, with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City all credited with an interest at certain points this season.
Juventus are also thought to be extremely keen, but are highly unlikely to have the funds required to do a deal.
Sandro Tonali may be too expensive for interested clubs
Price is going to play a big factor in his future in the summer, too, according to Craig Hope's latest Confidential column for the Daily Mail.
Hope believes that a drop in form would make it hard for buying clubs to justify the £80 million price tag Newcastle have placed on the Italy international. Tonali is on a good contract at Newcastle, which runs to 2030, which all makes it very difficult for a buying club to snap him up on the cheap.
The future of Elliot Anderson is likely to play a big part in what happens to Tonali, too. Anderseon is thought to be the top target for several clubs in the summer who have also been eyeing Tonali. If/when Anderson moves, that will kickstart the melee for other targets, of which Tonali may be one.
PSR may be gone, but its legacy lives on
It's crazy to think how Elliot Anderson could potentially cause us another transfer problem. Thanks, PSR!
Sandro Tonali has never hinted that he wants to leave the club, at least not publicly. All of that noise has come from his agent and the media, so hopefully he's ready to buckle down and rediscover that form that earned him his £80 million price tag in the first place.
As the Blog's resident Tonali lover, even I can admit that he's not been anywhere near his best this season, but I'm certainly glad it looks more likely that he'll be here next season to put that right.
