Sela release Newcastle United statement as three-year deal comes to an end

Newcastle United have yet to announce a new front-of-shirt sponsor, with the new kits set to go on sale this week with blank fronts.

As the Magpies continue to look for a new partner, the outgoing partner, Sela, has thanked the club and its fans for the past three years.

Newcastle's partnership with Sela coincided with a Carabao Cup win and two Champions League campaigns, while the partnership itself garnered many awards.

Sela put on events in and around the city, such as the fantastic drone show to commemorate the club's return to the Champions League.

Sela has thanked Newcastle United as three-year deal comes to an end

It had been reported that Sela would continue as a club partner in some capacity, even though they'd pass on the torch when it comes to a front-of-shirt sponsor.

As Craig Hope has reported on X, the company's chief experience officer, Ibrahim Mohtaseb, has issued a statement reflecting on the last three years,, although it sounds more like a final goodbye.

“Sela is about redefining fan experiences. To do that, we must listen to the communities we serve and in Newcastle we found a truly unique and passionate community of fans – both in the city and globally.

“I would like to put on record our thanks to the club, fans and everyone involved with Newcastle United. The club will always hold a special place in Sela’s story, and we wish everyone continued success in the years ahead.”

It sounds like Sela and Newcastle are parting ways completely

That statement sounds rather final, so perhaps the reports that Sela would continue to be a partner were wide of the mark.

Sela has grown since it partnered with Newcastle, and the Magpies have certainly benefited from the partnership too, and it could be seen as one of the most successful partnerships in recent memory.

It's expected that the next deal won't be worth as much to the club as the one with Sela, so this really was a golden period for the club. Hopefully, when the sponsorship market recovers from the gambling ban, we can get back to the kind of deal we had with Sela.
