Titus Bramble joins Nobby Solano for unexpected Newcastle reunion in Pakistan

Titus Bramble is joining forces with Nobby Solano again, with the former Newcastle defender appointed assistant coach of Pakistan’s men’s national team.

The Pakistan Football Federation confirmed his appointment on Instagram, welcoming Bramble to the coaching staff as the national side prepares for the FIFA ASEAN Cup.

Solano and Bramble reunited in international football. It sounds like something Football Manager would throw up after you’d left a save running for too long.

We covered Nobby’s move to Pakistan last summer, when his appointment initially focused on the Under-23s with a pathway to taking charge of the senior side. Now he has another familiar face from St James’ Park alongside him.

A familiar face for Nobby

The pair played together during Bramble’s five-year Newcastle spell between 2002 and 2007, so there’s plenty of shared history behind this latest reunion.

Bramble’s time on Tyneside certainly had its ups and downs, but he has coaching experience behind him too, having worked in Ipswich Town’s academy after his Premier League playing days.

There’s something rather enjoyable about two names from that Newcastle era turning up together on a completely different footballing adventure.
