WATCH: Ewen Jaouen's first big interview after £18m move to Newcastle United

Ewen Jaouen's first big interview as a Newcastle United player is out, and is definitely worth a watch.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper isn't coming into the club completely blind, as the young Frenchman, who has been tipped to be a future France No.1, had clearly done his homework before agreeing to join.

In his first interview with the club, Jaouen spoke about how important the fans were in his decision to come to Newcastle. He was very aware of our fanbase before signing and talks up the role it played in tempting him to join.

Jaouen said as much in the car journey between the airport and the training ground, as shown in the behind-the-scenes video, and also discussed his style of play, ambitions and conversations with Eddie Howe

Ewen Jaouen wants to grow with the club

A crucial part of Jaouen's interview was when he was asked why this was a good move at this point in his career. It sounds as though Jaouen knows his role already and is hoping to grow along with the club.

"I'm still developing. I'm still a young keeper, and I know the club is developing also; I can see it with the training ground. I want to develop with the club, I want to progress with it.

I know me personally, when I'm on the pitch, I love it when there's a huge atmosphere, and that's what I'm looking for here, to progress but also to be a member of this family."

On first impressions, we're impressed

It already feels like Ewen Jaouen gets it. He understands what kind of club Newcastle is, and as long as he can back up his words with performances that his reputation has led us to expect, we're sure he's going to be a huge star for us.

We'll have to wait a while before we get to see what we've signed, but we expect that Jaouen will be heavily involved in pre-season as Eddie Howe will want to get a close-up look at his new signings.

He may not be the first choice for the competitive games next season, and it remains to be seen who will be, but we're sure he'll get plenty of opportunities in pre-season friendlies.
