Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali updates - Luke Edwards and Mark Douglas share latest
Things got a bit tense in Newcastle on Thursday when two stories came out in quick succession around Newcastle United's two big midfield stars.
There have been plenty of stories around Sandro Tonali leaving the club in the summer, so updates on this one are to be expected, but stories around Bruno Guimaraes and Arsenal are never welcome news.
Tottenham Hotspur had reportedly got back in touch to ask Newcastle if they'd be willing to reconsider their original offer for Tonali, and they were told in no uncertain terms where to go, according to the Daily Mail
Meanwhile, the same outlet reported that Arsenal had been in touch with Bruno Guimaraes' representatives over a potential summer switch.
Don't panic!
Since those two stories dropped, however, both Luke Edwards of The Telegraph and iNews' Mark Douglas have added more context.
Both claim that there has been no approach by Arsenal for Bruno Guimaraes, and even if there was, Luke Edwards says he is relaxed when it comes to Bruno and that he wants a new contract at Newcastle.
As for Sandro Tonali, Mark Douglas has claimed that there has been no further contact from Spurs as yet.
Newcastle need to get moving with incomings
As Mark Douglas rightly said in his post on X, Newcastle needs to get a move on with incoming deals to shift the narrative away from players leaving.
The mood around the club is already tense after the last season and, more recently, seeing one of our primary targets renege on a deal to go elsewhere, so all of this talk about exits and nothing new about incomings is only going to add to the tension.
It's still early in the transfer window, but after signing Ewen Jaoeun and then coming so close to Victor Muñoz, we thought we'd be in a better position by now.
