Danilo Santos could replace Bruno Guimarães at Newcastle - Report
Newcastle United are sweating on the future of captain Bruno Guimarães amid rumours that the Brazilian wants a move to Arsenal.
There is still plenty of confusion around what is expected to happen with Bruno Giumarães. Reports that Arsenal are yet to speak to Newcastle to even declare an interest in the 28-year-old have come out after claims that positive talks had taken place.
While Newcastle continue to insist Bruno is not for sale, there's also an understanding that everyone has a price.
Replacing Bruno Guimarães will not be impossible, but it will be a very difficult task. It's not so much about what he brings on the pitch in terms of his play, although that will be a great miss, but it's about how he conducts himself in and around the club and that connection he has with the area and the fans.
Newcastle are in 'pole position' for Danilo Stantos
To replace him on the field, however, Brazilian outlet FogãoNET claims that the Magpies are leading the way in the race for 25-year-old Botofogo midfielder Danilo Santos.
This report comes amid claims that Chelsea have entered the race for the former Nottingham Forest man, but it's claimed that Newcastle are in pole position for the man who made four appearances at the World Cup for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
FogãoNET claims Chelsea sees Danilo Santos as a replacement for former Newcastle target Andrey Santos, who is heading to Manchester United. But they also claim that Manchester United and Arsenal have made contact over the midfielder.
This stinks of media spin
We're not so sure about this one. If Newcastle are in 'pole position', why is this the first we're hearing of it? It screams of foreign media using English clubs to raise a player's profile.
ESPN Brazil claims Brazilian side Palmeiras have had a £21.5 million bid rejected by Botofogo, so this feels like someone putting stories out there to claim that there's intense interest from the Premier League to get Palmeiras to come back with a higher offer.
Rumour Rating: 2/10 - Danilo Santos may have got his career back on track after a tough time at Nottingham Forest, where he broke his leg on the opening day of the season. However, he's not a Bruno Guimarães replacement. Nothing about this one adds up, really, other than him being a midfielder who could be available.
