Jaissle hopes Newcastle's cup celebrations can inspire another Wembley trip
Matthias Jaissle has been discussing how Newcastle used footage of our 2025 Carabao Cup celebrations during their approach to bring him to Tyneside.
With another cup trip to Everton tonight, the boss is hoping the players who experienced that Wembley win can use those memories to help us get there again.
From Newcastle's sales pitch to another cup run
This is something Jaissle also spoke about back in August, when he said the club had tried to convince him with footage of the trophy parade, although he hadn't needed convincing to take the job.
Asked by Sky Sports whether he had seen the reaction to the Wembley win, Jaissle said:
"When the club tried to approach me, I got pictures like that about what could be possible and what could happen within the club and the city.
"Really nice pictures, really nice memories for the players. I hope they can re-capture that and use it as motivation.
"Eddie did an amazing job with the players, but now it's a bit of a different situation after what happened in the summer.
"We'll do what we can in the best possible way and the support we will have there, we'll be positive for a great result."
You can understand why Newcastle would show those celebrations to someone they wanted to bring here. The scenes at Wembley and back on Tyneside made a pretty convincing case for what being successful at this club could feel like.
With 8,000 Mags heading to Merseyside and Jaissle promising to go all in, tonight is a chance to take another step towards it.
A win puts us in the quarter-finals. Let's give that away end something to shout about and keep another Wembley trip on the cards.
