Jaissle: SEVEN ruled out of Hull clash and Anthony Elanga injury "sad"
Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has confirmed that Nico Gonzalez, Amar Dedic, Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga will miss the upcoming match against Hull City.
Elanga is now set to undergo an MRI scan after suffering a hamstring injury, with Newcastle waiting for further clarity on the extent of the problem.
Seven players out of Hull clash
Jaissle confirmed that Gonzalez, Dedic and Ramsey will miss the Hull City match, while Elanga is remains unavailable after picking up his hamstring problem.
Dan Burn, William Osula and Joelinton remain sidelined as they continue their respective recoveries.
"No new players coming back for the Hull game. We have some injured players missing, but we use that as an opportunity for others.
“Anthony and Amar will not be able to play on Saturday. Nico was unlucky, we have the responsibility to follow league protocols, he is missing Saturday's match.
“JJ (Ramsey) is injured. Hopefully after the international break our injury list is shorter."
That means Newcastle are likely to head into the game with a number of important first-team players still unavailable.
Elanga wait continues ahead of scan
Speaking at his press conference, Jaissle confirmed that there was no major update on Elanga’s condition yet, but revealed that the winger was heading for a scan.
“No real update on Anthony, spoke with him now, he is heading for an MRI scan.
“We will get more clarity after that and hope it’s not too serious.
"It is sad after the great start he had; he is a key strength in our squad; we want to stay positive.”
Elanga has been tipped to miss six to eight weeks, as reported by The Mail's Craig Hope in his Confidential Column last night.
Fingers crossed the latest MRI on Elanga does not reveal anything too serious. As for the others, Nico will be back for Coventry and we'll have to hope that Ramsey, Dedic, Burn, Osula and Joelinton can return after the international break, which may just come at a good time.
