Manchester United refuse to give up on Lewis Hall as NUFC close in on new deal

Manchester United are planning another move for Lewis Hall next year despite being warned off this summer, according to The Sun’s Gary Stonehouse.

The report comes just two days after our exclusive revealing Hall’s agreement over a new Newcastle contract. As Joel Bland reported on Sunday, significantly improved terms have been agreed, with a two-year extension expected to take him through to 2031.

The deal was still being formalised, with legal work ongoing ahead of an announcement. Ross Wilson wasn’t giving anything away when asked about the talks, telling The Sun:

“We comment on things like that when they’re done. It’s unhelpful to comment otherwise.”

A new deal won’t end the Lewis Hall speculation

Man Utd and some of the journalists covering them seem absolutely obsessed with getting Hall to Old Trafford. The window has barely closed and we’re already being told about their next attempt.

Newcastle are right to get his contract sorted early. Another two years would strengthen our hand, and Hall is exactly the sort of player we should be building around.

Unfortunately, with financial rules restricting what we can spend, I think every player has their price. We’ve just had Wilson admit Newcastle weren’t comfortable selling Bruno Guimarães, and I’m sure none of us would enjoy seeing Hall leave his boyhood club.

I shudder at the thought of it, but when Wallsend lad Michael Carrick inevitably gets the sack, there is a very real possibility we could be watching Eddie Howe in Man Utd’s dugout with a face he's very familiar with marauding up and down the left hand side.

For now, Hall is ours. We’ll keep enjoying him until we’re told otherwise.
