Neco Williams eyed up by Newcastle United - BBC Sport
Newcastle United are far from done with their summer shopping as Eddie Howe's squad is undergoing a serious overhaul.
We've seen a mass exodus at St James' Park already, and with Bruno Guimaraes' future also up in the air, Nick Pope and Jacob Murphy both being eyed by Premier League rivals, that exodus is not done yet.
Thankfully, there are also irons in the fire when it comes to incomings, with Johan Manzambi now free to make a decision on his future, and now it looks as though Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams is back on the Magpies' radar.
It was reported back in May that Newcastle had an interest in the Wales international, and it looks as though that interest hasn't waned.
Newcastle remain keen on Neco Williams
Nottingham Forest are keen to tie the 25-year-old down to a new deal despite him having three years to run on his current contract.
Forest are aware of interest from other clubs, which, according to Sami Mokbel at the BBC, are Newcastle United and Manchester United.
Mokbel says that Nottingham Forest are confident that they can get the full-back to sign another deal and remain at the City Ground.
Newcastle are desperate for full-backs
Newcastle needs cover for Lewis Hall at left-back, but given Tino Livramento's injury issues and the lack of backup on the right side of the pitch, Williams would be an ideal signing as he's comfortable playing on both flanks.
The lack of full-back options is a huge worry at this stage of the summer. We have two of the best in the business in Hall and Livramento, but they can't be expected to play every game at full pace. This season may be okay as they don't have the hectic schedule that comes with playing in Europe, but going forward, it's a huge issue.
Also, as mentioned, we can't really rely on Tino Livramento to be available for a full season, so a full-back for each side certainly wouldn't be a bad idea.
Neco Williams would likely be an expensive deal to do, though. Buying from another Premier League club who already has a three-year cushion in his contract all points towards Forest being able to ask for a silly figure.
