Newcastle announce EIGHT deals for 2026/27 as youth stars sign scholarships

Newcastle United have announced that eight youngsters have signed scholarships with the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

While Newcastle continues to scour the globe for young talent to sign and bring into the club, work continues within the academy to bring young talent through the ranks.

Young hopefuls can come through the academy via the scholarship programme, which takes players after they leave school and develops them in preparation for a career in football while also supporting them through further education.

Newcastle United has confirmed that they have signed eight youngsters to the programme for next season who will all be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Lewis Miley.

Newcastle's academy continues to grow

In a post on X and a statement via the official website, the club has congratulated its eight new additions.

"Eight teenagers have signed scholarships with our Academy ahead of the 2026/27 season 🤝

"Chukwudi Afumuzor, Theo Benjamin, Roman Dowell, Jayden Kouossu, George Mair, Leon Mukumbira, Alfie Seldon and Lesecond Yeutembip will all link-up with Chris Moore's U18 squad for the new campaign.

"Congratulations, lads! 🙌"

Eight new names to look out for

Academy director Steve Harper spoke to the official site to welcome the new intake.

"Congratulations to each of the young players joining us as scholars this season.

"Stepping into a full-time football environment is a major milestone and our programme is built to guide them through every part of that transition, developing their football, supporting their education and helping them grow as people.

"We're excited to work with them and to see how they progress as they begin this next chapter at the Academy."

It may be a while before we see any of them pushing for a spot in the first team, but it's eight new names to look out for in the future. Best of luck, lads.
