Newcastle in talks to sign Matias Soule - Report
Newcastle's search for at least one attacker continues, and a familiar name has been linked with a late move to Newcastle United.
According to reports in France, Newcastle are pursuing Roma's Matias Soule heading into the final 48 hours of the summer window.
This comes from Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, the same journalist who reported on Sunday morning that we're closing in on a deal for Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
Aouna claims that Newcastle are now in 'direct contact' with Roma over a deal for the 23-year-old Argentinian.
A long-term target that ticks plenty boxes
If we're to believe previous reports, Newcastle have been tracking the South American since his time with Frosinone.
The club were initially linked back in 2023, then were credited with an interest during his time at Juventus.
As for his profile, Soule is another versatile attacker who ticks several boxes, much like Fernandez-Pardo and Bilal El Knannouss.
The Roma talent spent much of 2025-26 playing as a No.10 or second striker, but is also capable of operating on the right wing, often cutting in on his left foot.
Last season, Soule bagged seven goals and eight assists. In 112 Serie A appearances, the Argentine has 36 goal involvements.
