Newcastle submit Victor Munoz bid - Fabrizio Romano

Newcastle United have been strongly linked with a move for Osasuna winger Victor Munoz.

As the Magpies look to replace Anthony Gordon, who moved to Barcelona at the end of May for around £70 million, the club has been linked with several potential targets.

There have been plenty of players linked and endless rumours about who Newcastle will go for, but the one that has always felt the most likely to happen is that of Spain winger Victor Munoz.

It was reported last week that the 22-year-old is keen on a move to Tyneside, and it sounds like we’re making a strong push to get this one over the line.

Newcastle launch Munoz bid

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle have placed an official bid for Spain talent Victor Munoz, insisting he’s a top target as negotiations continue between Newcastle, Osasuna and the player himself.

While Romano hasn't indicated a fee, there is a £34.5m release clause in his contract, so we know it won't be more than that.

"Newcastle have sent an official bid to Osasuna for Victor Muñoz as Spanish winger is a top target for #NUFC.

“Negotiations ongoing on both club and player side to try to reach an agreement."

Newcastle have acted quickly

This is a huge step for Newcastle, who were rumoured to be working on another deal when it was reported that Ewen Jaouen was heading to Tyneside. It would make sense that this is that same deal.

Newcastle has acted quickly to get this one done as they feared that some good performances for Spain at the World Cup could seriously increase competition for his signature.

There's still a way to go, obviously, but this could be a huge coup for Newcastle if they pull it off.
