Newcastle 'very interested' in Abde Ezzalzouli after Real Betis trip - Report

Another day, another transfer link at Newcastle United, who are preparing for a busy summer of ins and outs.

We revealed last week that the club have been keeping a close eye on Bundesliga duo Antonio Nusa and Bazoumana Toure, along with Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo. 

This week, an exciting name has emerged from the Spanish media, suggesting Real Betis' Abde Ezzalzouli is another one to watch. Here are the details. 

Toon scouts spotted in Spain? 

According to Spanish outlet Diario de Sevilla, Newcastle are 'very, very interested' in Betis star Abde Ezzalzouli. 

They report that Newcastle had a representative present at their home clash with Elche on Tuesday night, specifically to watch the 24-year-old Moroccan.

Betis won the game 2-1, ensuring a top-five finish and the return of Champions League football after 21 years away, with the La Liga side now seven points clear of sixth place Celta Vigo with only two games remaining.

Diario de Sevilla states that both Newcastle and Aston Villa are seriously interested in Ezzalzouli, who has shone this season with nine goals and nine assists in 27 appearances.

His former club, Barcelona, are also keeping a close eye on his situation, as are several unnamed German clubs, suggesting he is attracting significant interest across Europe.

A potential Gordon replacement

With Anthony Gordon strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich, Newcastle will be busy lining up a potential replacement as we speak.

Last summer, so much of the talk centred around a right-winger, where Anthony Elanga eventually arrived from Nottingham Forest, but it seems the other flank will be they key focus 12 months on.

More names will emerge, with plenty of twists and turns inevitable, but it feels like a European-based gem under the age of 25 is the most likely profile to arrive after recent links to Nusa, Fernandez-Pardo, Toure and Ezzalzouli.
