Sean Neave set for deadline day loan away from Newcastle - Keith Downie

Forwards are the topic of conversation at Newcastle United today, as Matias Fernandez-Pardo arrives from Lille and Nick Woltemade heads to Juventus on loan.

And another looks set to depart before 11pm tonight, with Sean Neave eyeing a loan for some much-needed minutes at senior level.

Sky Sports' Keith Downie reports that Newcastle have sanctioned a move for the 19-year-old striker, who is yet to feature in any of our opening three games against Liverpool, West Brom and Spurs.

Downie reveals that a temporary switch to League One is on the cards, although the forward has also received interest from the Championship.

No clubs are named, but regular minutes in the third tier could make sense, with fellow Under-21 talent Rory Finneran joining Notts County last week.

Neave must make next step

Neave has impressed at youth level, scoring 14 goals in 21 games in the Premier League 2 and netting in the UEFA Youth League.

He's also represented England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels, but he's only played twice at senior level.

A loan move feels necessary and the ideal next step, with game time unlikely to come on Tyneside this season while Will Osula, Yoane Wissa and new signing Fernandez-Pardo limit his opportunities in attack.

He's a tall lad, standing over 6ft, but he must learn how to cope with the physical demands of senior football. A loan move to the EFL will help
