Tino Livramento injury details revealed as Newcastle take cautious approach

Tino Livramento has suffered a knee injury, according to Craig Hope, with Newcastle taking a cautious approach to the defender's recovery.

The Mail reporter says Livramento has avoided serious injury and is doing light work on the grass, but there is still no definite date for his return.

Livramento easing back after knee injury

Writing in his Newcastle Confidential Q&A, Hope explained:

"I'm told that the issue, first felt in training last month, was initially thought to be innocuous. However, after tests, it was revealed that Livramento needed a period of rest and recovery. He has avoided serious injury, I understand, and has been doing some light work on the grass the past week or so."

Hope says Newcastle are being careful given Livramento's history of significant knee problems, with work now under way to ease him back towards full fitness.

He adds that Livramento, who withdrew from England's fixtures last month, is unlikely to be involved in next month's internationals either.

Jaissle still short at right-back

Livramento's absence has left Lewis Miley deputising on the right, with Amar Dedic also working his way back from a hamstring injury.

Earlier this week, we covered Mark Douglas' update on Dedic's fitness, which suggested he could return against Crystal Palace but was not yet ready to complete 90 minutes. He had been named on the bench against Aston Villa without being considered ready to play.

Getting Dedic ready to start would at least give Jaissle the option of moving Miley back into midfield while Livramento continues his recovery.
