Wolves release fascinating behind the scenes footage of Sean Neave loan talks
Wolves have released a fascinating behind-the-scenes video showing the conversation that helped take Sean Neave from Newcastle to Molineux on loan.
The 19-year-old’s season-long move was confirmed last week, but this gives us a much better look at how Wolves sold the opportunity to him, what was discussed about playing time and what Sean wanted from the move.
Technical director Matt Jackson leads the call, with head coach Cesar Peixoto joining despite having a game against West Ham to prepare for later that day.

Wolves explain their plan for Neave
Jackson tells Neave that Peixoto specifically wanted a young striker to develop, with a route into the team alongside the experienced players already at the club.
“What Cesar has asked for is to have a young player to develop that’s not necessarily expecting to start all of the time, but will get a whole load of minutes, get theirself into the team, into a good team that’s creating chances as well, and hopefully score goals.”
John Ruddy and Kieran Trippier are mentioned as senior figures who can help him settle, while Peixoto encourages Neave not to be put off by the names ahead of him, including Raul Jimenez.
There is also a frank discussion about the possibility of getting more starts in League One, weighed against the challenge of earning his place at Wolves.
Neave’s own priority is straightforward:
“The main thing for me is just to play.”
He adds that he wants minutes even if he isn’t starting. That is encouraging to hear from a young striker taking his first loan away from Newcastle.
Peixoto, meanwhile, makes the terms clear:
“I can’t say to you, ‘You’re going to play all the games.’ I don’t say this to any player.”
His assurance is that performances will count:
“The age for me is just a number. If you deserve to play, for sure you’re going to play.”
Jackson makes an interesting point about young strikers
Jackson’s argument about the quality of service is perhaps the most interesting part of the call.
Drawing on his experience as a loans manager, he says a striker can become the level they are sent to through no fault of their own, because they depend so heavily on the players creating chances around them.
He then names Fer Lopez, Mane and Rodrigo Gomes as players who can supply Neave.
There is a fair point there. Minutes matter enormously, but so does what a young forward gets to do with them. Playing in an attacking side with good creators could give Neave opportunities to develop the finishing that earned him this move.
Our initial assessment of the Wolves opportunity came back to whether he would get enough football. This footage adds useful detail to that question, particularly with the manager explaining his expectations directly.
It sounds like a proper challenge for Sean, and one he is willing to take on. Now we need those promised opportunities to become meaningful minutes on the pitch.
