Newcastle believe two targets want to sign this summer - Report
Newcastle's attempts to land top targets has stepped up over the past few days, with discussions taking place over three potential arrivals.
Friday brought news of early talks with Nottingham Forest over Anthony Elanga, Saturday saw news of an approach for Brighton's Joao Pedro and it was revealed just yesterday that we're back in talks with Burnley over James Trafford.
So far, it appears Newcastle's valuation of all three falls below what each club is currently demanding, but it seems there is some encouragement on our end.
The Telegraph states that there is 'confidence' at Newcastle that Trafford would like to sign, having been keen on the move 12 months ago before Burnley rejected our £16m bid and opted to keep him.
The same report reveals that we've also received feedback that Joao Pedro would be interested in signing, but each player's preference can only go so far.
Much like Luke Edwards' piece for The Telegraph, Craig Hope's update for The Mail reveals that a deal for Trafford is currently 'some way' off, with the Clarets wanting closer to £40m for the 22-year-old.
It's a similar story regarding Pedro, as Edwards reports that there is a gap between what Newcastle are willing to pay and Brighton's asking price for the 23-year-old Brazilian.
Hope reveals that a deal for Elanga is still being pursued, but all the noises suggest Nottingham Forest will demand in excess of £50m for the Sweden international.
