Eddie Howe and Ross Wilson react to Bazoumana Toure signing
Newcastle United have officially completed their second signing of the summer after they announced the arrival of Bazouman Toure on a long-term deal.
After reaching an agreement with Hoffenheim earlier last week, Bazoumana Toure was pictured on his way to Newcastle before being spotted at St James' Park.
Newcastle fans have had to wait for confirmation of the deal, but Sunday finally brought confirmation of the Magpies' second summer signing after the capture of France Under-21 goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen.
Bazoumana Toure arrived at Newcastle shortly after Ivory Coast were eliminated from the World Cup.
Howe is delighted to land 'high ceiling' Toure
Speaking to the official website, Eddie Howe spoke of his joy at capturing Toure, saying that he feels that the 20-year-old has a very high ceiling.
"We're really pleased to have been able to bring Bazoumana to Newcastle United.
"He has shown his ability to perform in a top European league during his time in Germany and has gained really good experience with his national team, especially at this summer's World Cup.
"We feel that he’s a player with a really high ceiling - he's somebody who we believe can offer us something different. He also a lot of potential to unlock and we’re really looking forward to working with him."
Wilson - "There's plenty more growth to come"
Sporting director Ross Wilson echoed Howe's sentiments about Toure and went on to thank Hoffenheim for making the process a smooth one.
"We're delighted to welcome Bazoumana to Newcastle United. At just 20 years old, he's already a hugely exciting young talent who has progressed year on year.
"We are sure there's plenty more growth still to come - development we're excited to nurture here at Newcastle. We've been working to get this transfer arranged in recent weeks, whilst Bazoumana has been at the World Cup.
"Finally, I'd like to thank TSG Hoffenheim for their professionalism in all of our discussions and for the care they've shown him. I know they share our excitement in Bazoumana's quality and potential."
Hopefully, we grow to love Bazoumana Toure as much as the last player we brought in from Hoffenheim. One Mr Joelinton.
