Fabrizio Romano gives update on Bruno Guimaraes amid Arsenal links

Sandro Tonali is heading to London to join Tottenham Hotspur for £100 million, which has Newcastle United fans worried about who could be next.

Bruno Guimaraes keeps being linked with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal, and there have even been reports that the Gunners have already made a bid that was rejected by the Magpies.

Newcastle's position is and always has been that Bruno Guimaraes is not for sale, but there are still plenty of reports suggesting that the Brazilian may be looking for a change of scenery this summer.

Bruno was linked with Arsenal before he joined Newcastle and has remained on Mikel Arteta's radar ever since, but this feels the closest that Arsenal have come to making an actual move for the 28-year-old.

Newcastle are adamant they want to keep Bruno

After selling Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali already this summer, it would feel as though selling Bruno too would be the equivalent of hitting the self-destruct button for Newcastle.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano believes that the sales of Gordon and Tonali only strengthen Newcastle's resolve to keep their captain.

"Newcastle sold Sandro Tonali. Newcastle sold Anthony Gordon. Newcastle don't have any intention to let Bruno Guimaraes go.

"Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the player. He really, really likes the player. Mikel Arteta was driving the interest in the player.

"But now with Newcastle, it's not going to be an easy one at all.

"At the moment, from Newcastle, the message is, 'the door is closed'."

Fabrizio Romano saying one of ours isn't going to a Big Six side?!

When Fabrizio Romano is saying that a Newcastle player is NOT going to one of the Big Six, then it must be a pretty strong message he's getting.

Obviously, we know that Newcastle don't talk to the Italian transfer mouthpiece, so his information must have come from elsewhere, if indeed he has any and isn't just going off his own vibes.

Although we have to say that his vibes match ours on this one. Newcastle are under absolutely no pressure to sell Bruno now, unless he himself starts agitating for a move. Then things could change. But we don't think he would do that.
