Felix Nmecha back on Newcastle's radar as club makes contact over move - Report
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has been linked with Newcastle United a few times in the past, and the connection has surfaced again.
The German international midfielder came through the academy at Manchester City before moving to VfB Wolfsburg and going on to become an established Bundesliga star with Dortmund.
The 25-year-old will be part of Germany's World Cup squad this summer as he looks to add to his seven international caps.
Whether he returns from North America still a Dortmund player is the big question after reports that Newcastle has reignited its interest in the midfielder, who was heavily linked in the summer of 2023.
Felix Nmecha linked with a return to England
As reported by Sky Sports Germany (via Bulinews), Newcastle, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen to bring Nmecha back to England.
Dortmund is determined to keep hold of Nmecha, however, with sporting director Ole Book telling Bild (via Bulinews) last month that Nmecha is in their plans for next season, and claimed he is one of the best midfielders in Germany.
“Felix will also play for us next season; that is the clear plan. He is one of the best midfielders in Germany, and he has nothing to hide in Europe either. He is extremely important for our game.”
An unlikely signing this summer?
Nmecha recently signed a new deal with Dortmund that takes him up to 2030, so they are under no pressure to sell, which will significantly bump up the price.
We just don't see this one being realistic, especially if Man Utd and Man City are keen and offering Champions League football. Also, at 25 years old, he's not in that early 20s bracket Ross Wilson is said to be targeting to lower the average age of our squad.
Rumour Rating: 4/10 - We give it a four because there's a historical interest in Felix Nmecha. Beyond that, I’m not sure it stacks up this time.
