Joelinton asks to leave Newcastle United - Report

It's been quite a 24 hours at Newcastle United.

A 4-1 defeat to Bristol City was followed by talk of a £25.6m move for Braga's Lukas Hornicek, then the bombshell news that Eddie Howe is leaving the club, paving the way for Matthias Jaissle's appointment.

Then came the fallout, featuring Howe's reasons for walking away and details of another tough summer that have forced the 48-year-old to reconsider his position.

This, sadly, brings us on nicely to another high-profile exit that could yet take place over the final month of the window, as Craig Hope explains that Bruno isn't the only Brazilian eyeing a move.

Joelinton wants Saudi switch  

In an in-depth piece for The Mail on Howe's imminent exit, Craig Hope has revealed that Joelinton is another senior star who is looking to move on.

The 29-year-old is said to have told the club about his wish to join a Saudi Arabian side after the 2025/26 campaign, although an offer from the SPL is yet to emerge.

A snippet from Hope's article reads: 'We can also reveal that his [Bruno's] compatriot Joelinton told Newcastle of his wish to move to Saudi Arabia in the weeks after the season closed. That offer is yet to materialise.'

So, while this is not the same as an Isak-style, formal transfer request submitted from big Joe, it's another key man who is not fully committed, much like his good friend Bruno.

Big Joe bound to be unsettled?

Considering Bruno is his best mate and Howe is the man who turned his career around on Tyneside, Big Joe may be wondering what's left for him at Newcastle as he approaches his 30s.

Mix that with a lucrative contract that's likely to be on offer in the Middle East, and you can see why he wondered if last season should be his last.

It may also be our final opportunity to land a good fee for our £40m man, although there is a limit on how many senior men we can lose this summer, especially when our four signings so far are aged just 18-20.
