Newcastle are 'frustrated' by constant Bruno Guimarães noise - Keith Downie

The Bruno Guimarães situation is starting to develop into a saga as Newcastle United starts to lose patience with the situation.

There have been many reports suggesting that Arsenal are going to take Newcastle's captain off their hands this summer.

That has been backed up by the news that Bruno himself has told Newcastle he'd like to explore the possibility of a move to the Premier League champions.

The problem is, Arsenal are still yet to make contact. That is despite reports of two previous bids and a lot of chatter that Bruno has agreed terms with Arsenal. If the latter is true at all, then that has to constitute tapping up, surely.

Keith Downie says Newcastle are frustrated

Speaking to Sky Sports, Keith Downie has said that Newcastle continues to be 'frustrated' by all the talk and the lack of action.

Downie says that if Arsenal are serious about wanting Bruno Guimarães, they should show Newcastle the colour of their money.

"Newcastle aren't going to win the Premier League. He wants to win titles. He wants to have the opportunity to do that. But Arsenal need to come to the table and show Newcastle the colour of their money.

"There are various reports out there saying Arsenal have made bids to Newcastle via intermediaries or middle-men. But as we sit here this morning, Arsenal have not contacted Newcastle.

"As I understand it, Newcastle have actually reached out to Arsenal and said, 'Look, are you serious about this? Are you trying to sign this player because we've had nothing from you?'

"It's all playing out with agents and I think it's frustrating for Newcastle because without doubt it's unsettling the player, hence why he has said he would like to explore his options elsewhere."

More shady than a forest floor

It's a very, very shady game that's being played here, whether or not Arsenal are directly involved or not.

Our suspicion is still that it's all the work of a shady agent, Kia Joorbchian who is putting these stories out there to try and get under Newcastle's skin and to force them to lower their asking price.

Hopefully, Newcastle stay strong and stick by their £90m+ valuation. If they do, we'll soon see Bruno's true character too after telling the club he'd only want to move to Arsenal if they come up with a fee that suits Newcastle.

Should they fail to do that, will Bruno be happy to stay? Only time will tell.
