Newcastle officials travel to see Alex Veron and Tobias Andrada - Report
Ross Wilson brought South American expert Thomas Federspiel with him to Newcastle United, and the Magpies are already benefitting from his knowledge of the South American game.
Newcastle United have already secured the signing of Ecuadorian wonderkid Johan Martinez, and the Magpies are continuing to scour the area for more hidden gems.
While Federspiel is based in Brazil, his scouting network covers Colombia, Peru and Uruguay as well, making sure no stone is left unturned.
Newcastle already has a record of bringing Argentinians to the club, having had Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez on the books in recent years, and it now looks as though Newcastle has a couple more in its sights.
Newcastle eye two Velez Sarsfield talents
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle's scouts were in attendance to watch Velez Sarsfield in action again last week and were paying close attention to 19-year-old defensive midfielder Tobias Andrada and 17-year-old winger Alex Veron.
Andrada is valued at around £3 million and is already attracting interest around Europe, with Parma and Nantes keeping an eye on the teenager who has already made 25 appearances in Argentina's top flight.
Meanwhile, Alex Veron, who can play on either flank, has made five league appearances for Velez Sarsfield this season and is still a bit of an unknown entity with the Chronicle saying they have no idea what his current valuation is.
Newcastle's South American scouts are doing the business
We certainly can't knock the work that's being done by Federspiel's network in South America. It seems like a new name is appearing every other day in connection with Newcastle.
Most of the players we've been linked with look like ones for the future rather than immediate first-team additions, but we're absolutely fine with that.
Obviously, we're not going to land every player we're linked with, but with the sheer number of players we've been linked with, we're bound to bring more than just Johan Martinez to Tyneside.
