Newcastle 'showing interest' in Palmeiras striker Flaco López
Despite claims that Eddie Howe is happy with his current strike force, Newcastle United continues to be linked with a summer move for a new striker.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Newcastle would prioritise a centre-forward and a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.
Since then, Will Osula has found form in front of goal, while Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa have shown promise in training, and so it's now felt that Eddie Howe's priorities have shifted.
Obviously, the current priority is finding a replacement for Anthony Gordon as he's destined for Barcelona.
Newcastle have been linked with Flaco López
Despite the recent rumours being that Newcastle isn't looking to add a striker in the summer, the Magpies have been linked with an interest in Palmeiras' Argentine striker Flaco López.
A report from Globo Esporte has credited Newcastle with an interest in the 25-year-old who has been touted as one of South America's most in-form strikers.
López has already scored nine goals and registered six assists in 21 games this season and is attracting plenty of interest. Fulham, West Ham, Tottenham, Everton and Brentford have all expressed an interest, as well as Newcastle.
Now's not the time for Newcastle to sign López
Given Newcastle's strong links to South America of late, this one could have some truth to it, although we're not sure it will go beyond having an interest at this point.
As we've already said, a striker isn't a priority for Newcastle this summer as far as we know, but if there's a deal to be made for an in-form striker, who knows what could happen.
We still aren't going to hold our breath on this one, especially not with all the competition we're likely to face.
Rumour Rating: 4/10 - There is probably an interest, but that doesn't mean there'll be a bid.
