Newcastle United confirm 2026/27 squad numbers following 'leaked' changes
On Tuesday, we reported that several squad number changes had been 'leaked' online via Newcastle United's official online store.
Fans looking to personalise their new kits with the names and numbers of their favourite players were greeted with a few new options this week.
Obviously, the arrivals of Sean Steur, Bazoumana Toure and Ewen Jaoeun provided us with a few new names and numbers to consider.
Meanwhile, there were a few changes spotted on the website. Most notable was that of Will Osula, who looked to be taking the number 10 shirt from the departed Anthony Gordon.
Will Ousla confirmed as Newcastle's No. 10
That seems like quite a promotion for the lad who was linked with an exit from the club in the summer and in January last season, but as of Thursday, it is now confirmed to be true.
The Magpies have released their updated squad numbers via the website, so if you're an avid Will Osula fan, you can now confidently purchase the kit with his name and the 10 on the back.
Tino Livramento has indeed taken Kieran Trippier's number two, while Anthony Elanga has gone from 20 to 19. Ewen Jaoeun will sport 24 while Sean Steur and Bazoumana Toure will wear 14 and 17, respectively.
What number will Aladji Bamba take?
Another player with a change in number is youngster Leo Shahar, who picks up the number 51 after previously wearing 61.
There still remain plenty of numbers available for new arrivals. Aladji Bamba will be the next player through the door, and as he's coming in to play the number six role, he may be given the number six shirt, which remains free following the departure of Jamaal Lascelles in January.
The number eight remains vacant too after the sale of Sandro Tonali, so he may opt for that one instead, or the club might ask him to take a higher number. If that's the case, can we then expect another midfield acquisition?
