Newcastle yet to discuss Nicolas Jackson in recruitment meetings - Luke Edwards
The news is moving pretty fast around Newcastle United lately, with stories being shot down before they've gathered any pace.
On Sunday, it was reported that Amanda Staveley was eyeing a £2bn takeover of Newcastle, but that was rubbished just hours later.
It's almost as if the club is in defence mode, scouring the media for any stories about the club while being poised and ready to launch a counter immediately.
The latest has come after it had been suggested that Newcastle could be ready to launch a bid for Nicolas Jackson, who is due to return to Chelsea after failing to secure a permanent move to Bayern Munich after his season-long loan in Germany.
No interest in Nicolas Jackson for Newcastle as yet
The Telegraph's Luke Edwards has already taken to X to claim that Newcastle have not looked at Jackson as things stand.
"Newcastle United are not currently interested in signing striker Nicolas Jackson. His name has not been mentioned in recruitment meetings at this stage. They have other striker targets for the summer though."
The fact that Edwards has hinted at other targets (which really goes without saying) has prompted fans to ask who is on the list if Jackson isn't one of them.
Newcastle are definitely in the market for a striker
It's no secret that Newcastle are looking for another striker to come in this summer, so it's obvious that the club will have a list of strikers in mind.
We've heard a few names mentioned so far, such as Liam Delap, Florian Balogun and Gonzalo Garcia.
There's nothing to say that the recent news about Nicolas Jackson returning to Chelsea won't put him on Newcastle's radar, however. Just because he's not been mentioned yet doesn't necessarily mean he's completely off the table as an idea.
