Predicted Newcastle team to face Coventry as four return from injury
Newcastle United return to Premier League action tonight as we travel to Coventry City, with Matthias Jaissle facing some important decisions after the international break.
Here's the side we're backing the boss to go with at the CBS Arena, keeping in mind some new selection dilemmas now Nico Gonzalez and Amar Dedic are back from injury, alongside Joelinton and Will Osula.
Predicted Newcastle XI vs Coventry
(4-2-3-1): Hornicek - Miley, Thiaw, Botman, Hall - Gonzalez, Steur - Murphy, Willock, Barnes - Wissa.
Lewis Miley gets our vote to retain his place at right-back after impressing against Hull City. Amar Dedic is back from his hamstring injury, but having only recently returned to training, Jaissle may prefer to stick with the same back four that started the 2-1 win over Hull.
In midfield, we're backing Nico Gonzalez to return alongside Sean Steur, who impressed in the last outing. That would allow Joe Willock to operate in the No.10 role, with Yoane Wissa leading the line.
Jacob Murphy is a reluctant pick on the right wing, but with Anthony Elanga still sidelined, we expect him to keep his place. We are not convinced Jaissle will move Harvey Barnes across to the right to accommodate Matias Fernandez-Pardo or Toure on the left, meaning Barnes should continue on his favoured side after five goal involvements in seven games this season.
Returning Mags unlikely to start
Will Osula could be back in the squad after returning to training, but, like Joelinton, we cannot see him being thrown straight into the starting XI after a lengthy absence through injury.
Elsewhere, the game look set to come too soon for Dan Burn (ankle) and Jacob Ramsey (thigh), while Tino Livramento and Ewen Jaouen could be facing extended spells out with hamstring issues.
With a chance to make it back-to-back wins and move up to 4th with a victory, tonight feels like a big chance to really kick on.
