When Newcastle fans can get a first look at Bazoumana Toure as players filter back to The KNOX

Newcastle United are back in training for pre-season, but not every player has returned to the KNOX as yet due to their involvement in the World Cup.

Players who were on international duty for the World Cup have an extended break to give them some rest and relaxation before they return to training with their respective clubs.

It's entirely optional, of course. Anthony Gordon famously returned to training on the first day after lifting the European Championships with England Under 21s, and that paid off for him massively during that season.

We're not expecting anybody to be that keen this time around, but we'll see.

Bazoumana Toure is ready for action

A couple of World Cup participants return to the fray this week, however, and are in line to feature against Gateshead on Saturday at the Gateshead Stadium.

Anthony Elanga returned to training last week and will likely be involved in the pre-season friendly at the weekend.

Yoane Wissa is also expected to be available, according to Newcastle World, as will new signing Bazoumana Toure.

The Ivory Coast winger missed the behind-closed-doors game against Darlington on Saturday, but is expected to be available at the weekend.

Fellow new signings Sean Steur and Ewen Jaoeun featured in the 3-0 win over Darlington on Saturday, but obviously, as it was behind closed doors, we didn't get the chance to see them.

When will the rest of the World Cup crew return?

Saturday's game against Gateshead will be the first in front of fans, and you can also watch it live via the official website for a small fee.

Malick Thiaw and Nick Woltemade are expected back for the Bristol City game on Wednesday 29th July, with Bruno Guimaraes to follow ahead of Valencia on 8th August.

Dan Burn will be the last one through the door in time for the Visit Malta Weekend on 15th/16th August. He's earned it.
