WATCH: Bruno Guimaraes dazzles for Brazil and adds two assists to tally
Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes is proving that he belongs on the biggest stage with his performances for Brazil at the World Cup.
Bruno played the full game again last night as Brazil dominated in their final group game, hammering Scotland 3-0.
Scotland now faces an anxious wait to find out if their third-place finish in the group will be enough to see them go into the knockout phase of the competition for the first time ever.
Steve Clarke's side barely laid a glove on Carlo Ancelotti's men in Miami, and while much of Scotland's downfall was their own doing, it was our very own Bruno Guimaraes, combining with Vinicius Jr again, who ensured they were adequately punished.
A brace of assists for Bruno Guimaraes helped Brazil see off Scotland
The first goal came about from some horrendous play at the back by Scotland, allowing Vini Jr to steal in and slot home, but it was his second goal that caught the eye for us.
You don't often see Vini Jr scoring with his head, but when Bruno Guimaraes is pinging balls like he did into the box, anyone can do it. Bruno put it on a plate for the Real Madrid superstar, and he duly obliged.
However, it was Bruno's assist for Matheus Cunha that really stood out. The Toon captain baffled the Scotland defence, bringing three players towards him and leaving space for Cunha. Bruno flicked the ball away with the outside of his boot into the path of the Man United man who couldn't miss.
Bring that confidence home
As exciting as it is to watch Bruno dominating on the biggest stage, we can't help but feel that this is all excellent for Newcastle.
We have no fear that Bruno is going to leave us this summer, although we're sure there'll be plenty of clubs contemplating a move after seeing his performances in the USA, but we can't help but feel the confidence is going to be coursing through him when he returns to Newcastle.
This World Cup could give a few of our lads a confidence boost if they are able to get minutes and perform, but there's no doubt that Bruno is going to be positively buzzing with his contributions.
Three assists in three games for the 28-year-old as Brazil go marching on.
