Bruno Guimaraes turns on style as Brazil breeze past Haiti

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes was in inspired form for Brazil last night as the Selecao won 3-0 in their group game with Haiti.

The Brazilians raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half, and that's how it remained, but it could have been many more.

Bruno Guimaraes had another solid game in the middle of the park for Carlo Ancelotti's side and even looked to have nabbed himself another assist to add to the one he picked up in the opening game.

Newcastle fans will have been very familiar with this move as Bruno dinked the ball over the back line for Raphinha to run onto. The former Leeds United man fired home the finish only for the offside flag to go up.

Craig Hope gushed over Bruno Guimaraes

Despite not registering another goal contribution, Bruno was in fine form, spraying the ball around with purpose and dictating the play like he does at Newcastle.

Craig Hope is over in the USA taking in the World Cup, and he was very impressed with what he saw from the Toon captain, even going as far as to say on X that holding on to Guimaraes could be worth more than any signing Newcastle makes this summer.

"Bruno Guimaraes outstanding here for Brazil. Every pass & tackle, his timing & measurement is perfect. Such a unique footballer. For all the potential outgoings at Newcastle, keeping him is worth more than any incoming #nufc"

Scotland next for Bruno

Brazil tops their group on goal difference, level on points with Morocco, who beat Scotland 1-0 earlier in the evening. Four points is expected to be enough to progress, but with Scotland on three points, nothing is decided yet.

Scotland take on Brazil next, so we could see the might of Bruno Guimaraes come up against the unstoppable force of John McGinn.

It should be a good encounter, to be fair. Can former Newcastle caretaker manager Steve Clarke be the first man to lead Scotland beyond a group stage? It's a tough ask.
