Newcastle identify Premier League keeper as top target despite high asking price - Report
Newcastle United are willing to pay the high fee of £40million set by Manchester United for their second-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson, according to the Mirror.
The 26-year-old has been a target for the club for some time now with Eddie Howe reportedly identifying Henderson as the successor to current starting keeper Martin Dubravka.
So far this season, we have conceded 61 goals in the Premier League, giving us the joint-fourth worst defensive record in the division - worse than Everton and Burnley.
For a while now, many have believed the former Sheffield United star to be the solution to out defensive problems, and it appears the club are prepared to go all out for a new number one.
Henderson spent two years on loan with the Blades, earning him plaudits from around the league as well as a call up to the England squad for the Euro 2020 tournament.
However, the shot-stopper has made zero league appearances this season and will 'explore his options' in the summer if incoming manager Erik Ten Haag cannot guarantee him first-team football ahead of David De Gea.
