Howe reveals injury boost, late checks and Murphy update after missing Bradford win

It's Friday morning and that means a meeting with the media for Eddie Howe, who has been talking to the local press ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal.

He revealed that there are a "couple of players" that needed to be checked today, suggesting we got a few knocks from Wednesday's 4-1 win over Bradford, although the boss insists we didn't pick up any "major injuries" from that match.

The good news is that Jacob Ramsey is back on the grass, "going well" and stepping up his recovery from an ankle injury, but it's not clear yet whether he can return before the international break. He and Yoane Wissa (knee) were previously pencilled in for our trip to Brighton on Sunday, 18th October.

A slight concern is Jacob Murphy's ongoing achilles issue, though this doesn't seem a major concern. He is "fit and available" for Sunday, with Howe's decision to leave him out against Bradford simply to 'manage his load.'

Discussing all of the above, Howe said:

"We have a couple of players to check today. No major injuries from the game.

"Jacob [Murphy] is doing okay, it is an issue we are managing. He is fit and available, but some days he has been sore, so we are just trying to manage his load."

"Jacob Ramsey's recovery is going well; he is on the grass working hard and building his fitness back up.

"I think it will be after the international break that we see him, anything before that, then he will be ahead of schedule."

Fabian Schar will miss out again on Sunday due to concussion rules, but it's Anthony Gordon's first league game back after he sat out games against Leeds, Wolves and Bournemouth through suspension.

On Gordon's return, Howe hailed his display in midweek and discussed what a "big boost" it is to have him back:

"It is a big boost for us to have him back fully. He can really focus on the few games we have ahead of the next international break.

I thought he was excellent against Bradford. He is a player that rises to the occasion, and we are going to need everyone to do that on Sunday."
