"Nightmare" - Paul Merson predicts Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest
Newcastle United face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League today, with both sides back in domestic action after midweek games in Europe.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is back predicting all of this weekend's games, and has explained why he sees nothing but a comfortable win for Eddie Howe's Mags.
Merse fears for Postecoglou, who has lost four and drawn two of his first six games, and thinks a trip to St James' Park is the "nightmare" fixture for the under-fire Aussie, who faced "sacked in the morning" chants from Forest fans on Thursday night.
In his latest prediction piece for Sportskeeda, Merson said this as he backed a 3-1 home win:
"What is happening to Nottingham Forest? They are in trouble and their upcoming fixtures look very bad. Ange Postecoglou will do well if he can outlast this run!
"Some section of the fans have already voiced their concerns about Postecoglou and it's quite understandable. Forest went from being a solid team under Nuno Espirito Santo to conceding way too many goals after Postecoglou took over.
"Newcastle got blown away by Arsenal last weekend. I was honestly surprised by the gulf in class between the two teams in that game.
"Even then, Newcastle were in the lead for about 84 minutes and that tells you this is actually a nightmare game for Nottingham Forest."
Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Nottingham Forest
Newcastle seems to finally be getting their act together in the final third after dismantling Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 ithe Champions League.
It was a win we desperately needed and a big confidence boost heading into today's game. Forest, however, appear to be in turmoil.
New boss Ange Postecoglou has failed to win his first six games as a Nottingham Forest manager, the first man in 100 years to do so.
They are yet to gain any new manager bounce since Nuno Espirito Santo left the club, leaving many to question the logic from fiery owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has brought in a manager with a totally different playing style in Ange.
It seems like Forest are there for the taking, and it's an opportunity Newcastle must capitalise on to climb back up the table and catch our competition.
