England fans on Anthony Gordon's performance vs Wales - Very mixed reviews
It was a comfortable win for England last night, who blew away Wales early to win 3-0 at Wembley.
Morgan Rogers opened the scoring just three minutes in, Aston Villa teammate Ollie Watkins made it 2-0 after 11 minutes and it was soon 3-0 midway through the first half, as Bukayo Saka curled into the top corner.
Dan Burn was an unused substitute and Tino Livramento (knee) missed out, as expected, but we saw another start on the left wing for Anthony Gordon, who started alongside Elliot Anderson and took on former Mag Karl Darlow.
The Newcastle winger played 90 minutes and showed plenty of urgency, pace and energy, linking up well at times in a lively display, but he was criticised for his lack of final ball at times.
As ever, his performance split opinion, with us finding the following reactions to last night's display as Three Lions fans up and down the country tuned in:
Gordon is such an exciting yet frustrating player. So much pace and does thinks quickly leading up to his final action, but that killer pass or quality strike is missing too often.
Anthony Gordon really sharp for England tonight. A great performance, constantly wanting the ball, and often effective with it too. Very encouraging indeed
Anthony Gordon is pretty wasteful in his #ENG games. That left HAND side position is still open in my opinion. It's time Grealish got another chance.
Anthony Gordon plays with 1 brain cell and speed. He could have a hat-trick of goals or assists.
Anthony Gordon has mastered the arts of looking busy
England v Wales, my player of the match Anthony Gordon, what an engine that lad has
Seeing Anthony Gordon in person is crazy, he’s one of the sharpest footballers I've ever seen
Anthony Gordon goes another game without scoring. It’s incredible to think he’s always in the team both at Newcastle and England
Anthony Gordon is giving Darwin Nunez type of energy. Sprinting up and down the pitch for England, loads of energy, but lacking in finesse.
England XI: Pickford; Konsa, Stones, Guehi, Spence; Anderson, Rice; Saka, Rogers, Gordon; Watkins.
Subs: Lewis-Skelly, Henderson, Kane, Eze, Rashford, Burn, Henderson, Gibbs-White, Loftus-Cheek, Bowen, Trafford, Quansah, O'Reilly.
