Good and bad injury news for Newcastle as calf issue is confirmed on Friday
There has been good and bad news on the injury front over the past few weeks.
Jacob Ramsey is set to return at Brighton next weekend after recovering from a ankle issue, and Dan Burn breaking a bone in his hand won't stop him from playing, but we've had a few setbacks.
Tino Livramento (knee) is out for another six weeks, Lewis Hall has suffered a hamstring issue and Yoane Wissa will be missing until early November after a two-week delay to his comeback plans.
Today, another injury concern has emerged, as Toon talent Lewis Miley has withdrawn from England's Under-21 squad.
The Young Lions were due to play Moldova tonight in a European Championship qualifier, but Miley has joined Hall in pulling out of the side due to a calf injury.
That is a concern, adding another one to the list, but there is some good news to share, as The Mail's Craig Hope reports that it's a 'small issue' and precautionary move from Newcastle, who hope the teenager will not miss any of our upcoming games through injury.
Elsewhere, Dan Burn's hand injury won't keep him out of action for club and country, while Nick Woltemade has recovered from flu-like symptoms ahead of Germany's World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg tonight.
Back to Miley, it is wise of Newcastle to manage him carefully at his age, with the 19-year-old missing big chunks of the past two seasons following a back injury at the end of his breakthrough campaign and a broken foot last summer.
